I think I will take my VW transporter Caravelle  T32 thingy........later on jn the year I'm driving over a classic Toyota Landcrusier over to keep there.....

Cant wait!

Thank you for that.......appreciated

Hi

From Portsmouth to villa Martin its approx 1100 miles your van according internet does about 15p to the mile so that’s 1100x 15 = £165 + Tolls which if you go the Bordeaux route come to approx 90 euro

All approx depending on how you drive and which way you go, you can do it avoiding all tolls thou... but equals more mileage..

Hope this helps

Terry

Think the Toyota will run about the same as ours but if it’s a “one-off” journey, may well be worth it.🤪🥂

Yes definitely.......thanks for the feedback.

Feels like ages since I've been.

Re-tolls

I don’t know if the tolls are still charging, maybe they relaxed the charge during the lockdown, but viamichelin is still providing prices for the tolls.im only saying this because unbelievably our local council didn’t charge for parking during lockdown either..

Good luck with the land cruiser, this why they put filling stations every 50 miles or so on the motorways lol

Fortunately its not that bad. It's just being refurbished and in the paint shop at the moment.

Should be a good car for there. I've got an older swb shogun there at the moment which is mint really so will decide what to do with it.

I'm just hoping the journey is as easy as everyone says. Was contemplating doing it in one go with shared driving but will see how it goes.

All exciting stuff.

First of all, thanks Tracy...that experience shared is very useful. Pretty much our planned route this or next month, final push with cats, so very appropriate.

Graham - if you are seeking a slow drive down through France then I'd heartily recommend the Dorling Kindersley 'Back Roads France'. We used it for a slow run through the west-ish side of France, awesome scenery, lovely book and good maps, as you expect from DK.

Have a great trip!

Good luck and enjoy the journey, download viamichelin as it really is very good.

I will buy a car but probably spanish registered, I know there expensive, but I believe you can only drive round on uk plates for so long and as with everything in spain

They are cracking down on it.

I will do the journey myself one day but for now it’s easyJet and zest car hire...

Oh dear, it's just a matter of time until we get a second spike, from the UK. It seems like a free for all if entering Spain by road as opposed to coming via the Airports.

Absolute nonsense, there is at this time nothing to suggest that the uk is repoluting

Spain with Covid-19, most carriers are even in hospital or isolating at home, approx

4000 in hospital and unknown figure at home ,but the R  rate in the uk with the exception of Leicester is below 1... please be mindful of this type chat as it frightens people unnecessarily...

I got rid of 5 litre mustang for more economical cupra ateca which would be expensive enough but the mustang I reckon I could have hired a private jet and that would have been cheaper!
