Hi. Any body out there know if I  can put a Spanish SIM card in my English phone and expect it to work. The phone is unlocked.

Yes, only recently bought a Sim Free handset when back in the U.K., the guy in the O2 Shop put my Spanish Sim in, transferred all my Contacts and set everything up as part of the deal.

You can use any country's sim in any unlocked phone, however if you are looking to change the phone, buy a dual sim phone which allows both sims to be used at any time. We both have dual sim phones that we can receive Uk calls and txts when in Spain(non resident) and our spanish sim does the same from resident friends who all have spanish contracts when we,re home.. We are with Tesco in Uk (very good) sim only contract, we get use in Spain as part of sim contract and they tried last week when I upgraded, to sell me onto new phone(as they all do) and they had dual sim handsets on offer.

I declined as recently purchased my handset but good to know as most providers dont offer a dual sim one.

Regards

Pauline.

Hello is there somewhere in the Villeins/Sax area where we can purchase a contract free SIM?

I use Hits mobile for spanish sim. It uses vodafone.es network. I bought mine from a little shop behind the bullring, an internet cafe and top up online. But I think they may have moved to street behind mercadonna. Think website gives locations of agents. However if you go onto website(choose english) you can order one to be delivered then phone their customer service(also available in english) and register. Need passport to buy, maybe NIE too. Had sim 10+yrs. Friends have recommended lobster but my house alarm caller is Hits so will stay with them. Hardly use it but good to have and most banks demand a spanish mobile no.

That's brilliant, thank you.  There seem a few kiosks in Petrer too.

Highly recommend Lobster. Cost us 25.40 a month but they have 3 plans available. I have never ran out of data and I use it to call Britian and the USA. No surprises
