We've sold our property in our home country and we're moving to the Alcoy area in 2 weeks (March, 29). But, we're afraid that we won't be able to get to our house in Spain due to border controls or road blocks. We don't have Spanish license plates yet, so we might be targeted by the Guardia Civil/  Do you guys think we'll be alright getting there? If we can't, we'll be homeless...

Sorry that you are unfortunately caught in such a situation.

The answer is that nobody knows what will be happening on March 29.

What forms of transport will be operating?

Travel is going to grind to a difficult halt within Europe for sure.

Perhaps at the end of this coming week, more information will be available to you about your particular situation.

For now it’s hour by hour the situation can dramatically change.

Contact both the French ( you are travelling through France?) and Spanish Embassies. Explain you are heading to your main domicile. Ask for their best advice to proceed. They may be long phone calls but worth while. Good luck to you both.

Spain is on lock down until the end of the month, we live in Catral and can only go to the supermarket and chemist or medical centres locally. If anybody is found out for any other reason the police and army will fine you.

We are due to catch the ferry to Bilbao on 1st April. We are intending to live in Spain for at least 2 years and have rented out our uk home from 1st April. If ferry still running we will take deeds to Spanish house and copies of energy bills etc with us. Then fingers crossed we can get in

Have read boarders closing tonight. Only Spanish and residents allowed in. I would suggest you check out the situation on offical Spanish site for definitive information.

Suggest checking out Citizen's Advice.

Going on the Portsmouth to bilbao ferry. Have booked a hotel near Madrid as a stopover but will just drive down without a stop if necessary

If you are just about to arrive check you have a hotel to go to, all bars and restaurants are closed and where we are police driving around telling you to stay in.  All rental agencies are closed, if you get stuck  what area are you aiming for as we have some numbers for rental agencies working from home, the banks are closed too, good luck
