Algorfa is not issuing the compatability certificate which is needed to continue the application. Hopefully news on the situation in the new year. Some areas will hopefully have their usage changed to allow the compatability certificate to be issued.

I have now waited 16 months for the problem to be resolved.

I have been waiting 14 months for license. I have the town hall certificate and have had that since June.

We are just becoming aware of this problem and it's a really huge one.  We have a small place up on Montemar, and like a lot of properties in the area it's just not viable unless it IS rented out for holidays.  I can't believe the town hall are being so self-destructive; if they didn't want tourism they should not have granted planning permission; it's too late to retrofit land use covenants!

I'm out there later in March; if anyone has any new information I'd appreciate it.  Also, if anyone has a good recommendation for a lawyer/accountant firm that can handle all of this plus our ongoing accounting and compliance stuff, I'd love to hear it!

I just want to be compliant with the law, run a safe and reliable rental, and pay my taxes.  The Town Hall should be helping us all with that, not blocking it.

If this drags on much further, given the huge threat it represents to all of us and local businesses, I strongly suggest we create a consortium of interested parties to investigate a group action to get it resolved before it starts bankrupting people.

Joel, Do you know if anyone succeeded in getting a tourist license before July 2018, ie before the Town Hall stage was brought in?  If some properties were able to get licenses before July '18 then that would hopefully be helpful in any future action.  In the meantime you can do seasonal letting if that would fit around your own visits (which doesn't need a license) to help out with the financial costs of running the property.
