Hi

We’ve been using Leasys for the past year through a broker, much cheaper,

if you book through “do you spain” or “money supermarket “ the prices are really competitive, READ the small print and always take photos and/or a video of the car to avoid any issues when you drop it back.

If you’re not happy about some of the marks or scratches on the car tell them!!

hope this helps.

You have no collision damage waiver insurance cover on the car with the hire company itself if using an agency, though some agencies will sell you their own policy. Theirs might be able to get you your money back from the hire company in the long term but won’t be accepted as cover at any hire desk. This means a block is put on your credit card for €1500 upwards by the hire company as protection against damage.  There are numerous companies that sell annual car hire excess police’s like “insurance for car hire.com” etc to alleviate this where you can purchase an annual policy where you could hope to recover levies for scratches or dent that a hire company might put on you. Taking photos is good but some of the more unscrupulous hire companies can always find a dent under a bumper or a scuff on a wheel to make a few hundred €€’s in quiet times. Collecting a car at night or in a poorly lit multi-storey car park make it hard to get a photo of everything.
Leasy’s who were rebranded from Drivalia 4/5 years ago are ok.

I’ve always taken out extra insurance with the broker company,

You’re right about holding excess on your credit card but all hire companies do this unless you take out their extortionate insurance cover, they get really annoyed when you tell them you already have it!!

With the broker “ Do you spain” they instruct you to contact them directly if the hire company try and give you the hard sell extra insurance cover.

With regards to the night time pick up and under the front / back bumpers you just HAVE to take the time to do it!!

On two occasions I have picked up marks/scratches that are not on their inspection sheet, I call them out of the office and ensure they update my copy of the marks I pointed out to them,

It is a bit laborious but if you don’t want to get ripped off then it has to be done!

i even make a game out of it when my young grandson comes out with us :-)

thanks for your info 👍
