Being Spaniard with some residence in a couple diff. countries I found out it´s better to integrate where you would be moving to.  In the city, though a small one Alicante is, there are many activities to go to, good shows, musicals, gyms, museums, Theaters, and more.  We have 3 close by beaches, San Juan beach is the best (except the Playa Arenales beach being the best but with rough waters specially in the winter)  Bus to almost everywhere for only 1,45€ ( bus discount cards available too).  Several shopping centers, excellent inside city markets Mercado Central (meaning NOT the street markets), also street markets "mercadillos" Mercado is not the same as Mercadillo.  Life is cheaper in Alicante city, specially food with quality,
If you want to be in Spain only for the sun-temperature and still live English life, then in Torrevieja,Sta.Pola- Arenales del Sol, Gran Alacant, except no good bus service.  Much better are the following, as you go north on the coast, and in this order passing Alic. city: Albufereta, Muchavista, San Juan Beach (all 3 Alicante district), then norther up Campello-Benidorm and up North where there are more English speaking population, the norther you go prices & live get higher.

I really suggest to integrate, take some Spanish lessons and become one of us.  Once you know a bit of Spanish then The Main School of Languages where you can get an official certificate is in the center of the city and to enroll is quite inexpensive, very good teachers and lots of people to meet.  If you go into google I think they have all the info for enrolling in English.

I live here and I only hate summers (too hot and humid) Would love to move to our North !!! Problem is property is way too expensive anywhere in the north, compared to what my flat is worth.

Wish you find a happy life

That 1.45 euro fare could take you as far north as El Campello, from Alicante.

Bus and tram fares were reduced in late 2022.

Fares with a card cost about half as much. There is a similar bono bus card for buying 10 trips on C-6 airport bus transfers.

Residents over 65+ who are empadronado can get free public transport with a bono oro card.

People under 30 can get free bus and tram transport, but I am not sure of the conditions, or if it will be extended beyond 31-12-2022.

Where can I go, what does tram or bus normally cost? https://alicante.vectalia.es/bonos-y-tarifas/
