My wife applied for a Spanish driving license on the 17 Jan and we still have not heard anything any idea anyone know how long it takes.??????
Currently at least that long and from what I've heard potentially a lot lot longer !
It's the same problem as is affecting residencia applications, systems hopelessly overloaded.
Nothing to do but keep waiting.
My experience is that it took four weeks.
We took the relevant papers to the Elche Trafico having previously made appointments on line.
We were issued with temporary papers on that day and received our new licences in the post 4 weeks later.
When booking appointments it was very easy and there were many available.
Hope you get news of yours soon.

After a year!!!! I had my abogada ask where it was and, surprise, it arrived 2 weeks later. Get used to incompetence in Spain....

This may depend upon whether you have postal deliveries actually to your house. They will not deliver to PO boxes and if this si the case, it will have benn returned to the Trafico office - and , I guarantee, will be sitting in a cupboard, until you make arrangements to collect it. This happened to us. It would be helpful if you have a local friendly gestor or abogada who can access the Trafico website to establish the status of your application. They will need all the usual information and any reference numbers. We established that ours had been issued two weeks after application, but 4 months prior to our enquiries. No one had emailed or rung. So start chasing!

A delay is not always the fault of DGT - it might be that DVLA in the UK are slow in responding to their query.
In some cases, DGT retain the UK license and issue a temporary driving permit. If that happens to you, make sure you request a new permit before the present one expires.

Also, as with many things in Spain, it is the responsibility of the person concerned to chase/remember things - this is certainly not a 'nanny' state. The only thing that for which you appear to receive a reminder is to renew your ITV, and that probably depends upon the particular ITV station that you use!
