Hi

Could anyone help resolve a mystery. Every afternoon in Altea we can hear what sounds like a car horn or siren that goes off every couple of minuets. It is not the normal Spanish noise of local traffic (as the Spanish do love to use their horns).

Does anyone know what it is and where or why it goes off.

Many thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I seem to remember someone in another area mentioning it was the Spanish equivalent of the "rag and bone man," who used a siren/horn to announce himself

In our area it's the bread man or, occasionally, the bodega man.

Many thanks for the info.

I'm surprised that he is allowed to be constantly blasting his horn all afternoon through the siesta time, yet another noise to block out and get used to. I must ask my neighbour, who happens to be the local Captain of the Guardia Civil how he copes with contaminación acústica.

Once again many thanks, mystery solved.
