🔥 I joined this group today, having moved into Altea Hills three weeks ago, I was shocked to see a Fire, which started last night just 1000 Mtrs from where I live.

I heard a loud bang then went out onto my balcony then noticed and took what is perhaps the first photo of a small Fire next to the AP7 highway at around 2:30am.

Due to heavy winds the situation became more serious as the night continued. At sunrise it then became apparent that the Fire had took hold further a field.

If it wasn’t for the Air Rescue and Emergency Services, this incident would have been a lot more serious.

In summary, everyone must be vigilant, because this happened in January, so with summer hotter months fast approaching incidents of this nature may become more frequent and could paint a different picture.

I wouldn't be too shocked, it's dry and fires like dry windy weather. As for 2:30, i think your a little early on the time but winter isnt any less a fire season than summer as anytime there are winds and a flame, trouble can't be too far away. In California the spring Santa Ana winds aways leads to fires that end up in the news, so fairly common. Welcome to Altea hills and don't worry as it can happen anywhere and the security staff, police and fire fighters did an excellent job and are still busy with a truck in the woods still today making sure nothing is left smoldering. We are less than 100m from where the original fire came up the hill from the A7, so it wasnt a great night after being evacuated.
