Nothing to add to any of the above advice. Just wanted to wish you luck. There's a British School in Gandia, about 20 mins away by car

I've tried to post a link, but it's not having it, so you'll need to copy and paste

https://colegiosbritanicos.com/british-school-gandia/

Click on 'I'm British' for videos... and you don't need to c&p. the link works now for some reason

Hi Gerry, thank you so much for your wish of luck. I did briefly look at the school website before but hadn't contacted them yet, but I certainly will.

I'll cross all appendages and hope for the best 😁

Good morning everyone.

Like many, we had our hearts set on moving abroad before Covid and Brexit, but now laws and regulations are easing, we are looking again and have fell for Oliva area.

We have found a house we love, but need to find out if there are any schools where our son can get to easily.  He is now 9.  None of us speak Spanish as yet, but willing to learn.

What are the chances of finding part time work here?

My father lives in Rojales and has done so for 20 years so would be a regular visitor.

Any advice, guidance and support will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance 💓

Re schools for 9 yr old. Yes there are at least 3 primary schools in Oliva. My daughter started secondary school here, she had a little spanish but found that didnt help too much as the classes are taught mainly in valencian. She really struggled for the first year as she didnt understand any of the lessons.

Having read all these wonderful messages of advice I’m sure you haven’t lost hope yet. One last thing. If you happen to have any Irish heritage, you could be entitled to apply for an Irish passport and as Ireland is still in the EU you could make the move to Spain without too many ghastly stipulations.  It’s just a thought and you may be able to hit the jackpot pot!  All good wishes.

One final point.   Rojales is quite a distance from Oliva. There are numerous beautiful coastal towns closer to you father. The closer you’d be, the simpler life could be.

Lol, Brexs**it made me chuckle,  it certainly has messed up a whole world of crap!!  But visa Information is a great help. Thank you.

We will need to sell our house here in the UK first before buying abroad, but the type of visa will depend on if I can find a small part time work I guess?? We can be self funded, but not indefinitely. ...

...

Are there any schools for a 9ywar old? X

Hi, just an added thought, you say you need to sell your house before buying in Spain. Take care when to apply for residency and timing of that is crucial so you won't be subject to Spanish CGT on sale of UK property.

Hi could you give some detail with regards to that ? if you sell a property in the uk and pay capital gains in uk you wouldnt have to pay tax on that again in spain?

the reason i ask is i may sell my flat in the uk and then just keep the money in the bank in spain  ( as i already have a flat in spain and am resident in spain),

Hi E,

No, your circumstances are different because you're already resident in Spain.  As you will (should) have already declared your UK property on your Modelo 720 (Declaration of Worldwide Assets) in Spain, you would have to declare the sale in Spain as well.

Following a post-Brexit change in UK tax rules, you have to declare the sale there too within 30 days, but before selling you should check that the Dual Taxation Agreement protects you from being taxed on any gain in both countries.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Rose,

Dad drives back to the UK twice a year, so driving from Rojales to Oliva wouldn't be a great issue. Plus hubby and I love to be closer to the mountains, but as he also loves the beach, we found that this would be a good alternative xx

Hi

I have a flat in Oliva. I didn't receive water bills since November. I want to know when the tax for the flat is due?. What company is better for Electricity and internet. Just basic tv I prefer.

Thank you. Maia
