Hi Mark,
If you are a UK passport holder and you want to move to Benidorm and work you will need to land a contracted job. If you are lucky enough to find work then your prospective employer will need to apply for a work visa on your behalf from the Spanish consulate in the UK.
All available work in Spain has to be offered to an EU citizen first by law and the prospective employer would need to prove that no EU construction workers were suitable.
There are thousands of builders in Spain and the whole of the EU.
Building work has been sparse for several years now.
You can't just move to Spain without some sort of visa.
However, if you could get an Irish passport then you could come over and apply for work.

Hello Mark, do you hold a UK or EU/EEA passport. The answer to this question will determine if it would be a simple move for you or not.
EU/EEA and Switzerland citizens can pack their bags and move to Spain without obtaining a Spanish visa. They can live and work in Spain for three months. However, if they want to stay for a period longer than three months, they must take other legal steps. These links will provide further information:

If you are a UK National (UK Passport holder) you need to apply for a Visa at one of three Spanish Consulates (London, Manchester and Edinburgh) in the UK. The following links will explain the Visas available and what you need to provide the Spanish Authorities to satisfy entry requirements:

Hi Mark.
Bricklayers are always wanted over here but working for a Spanish company is a different ball game and low money. If you are multi skilled you can work here for expats. Expect about 129 - 150 per day. Regards.

If anyone wants to live and work here in Benidorm they will need to follow the visa process even if they intend to be self employed.
You can't just move to Spain and do work for expats etc without some sort of visa.

Mark, Barry is incorrect - you can’t come and work here without a visa which for brickies is very difficult to get.
