Could anyone help me with supplying details for the nearest UK equivalent NHS Hospital to Benidorm that I can use with the EHIC Card, please include address and contact details.  Also does anyone know the emergency medical telephone number (Equivalent to the UK 999 number) that I can ring from a mobile whilst I am there?

The equivalent of the NHS hospital here is Villajoyosa hospital which is about 8km out of Benidorm.

You can look at their website to get more information of address etc. Taxi will cost you €20 from Benidorm.

Emergency services no is 112

Hi Barbara,

(Under present rules) If your husband or yourself is of UK retirement age you can apply to the Newcastle overseas healthcare office for an S1 form which will transfer your rights to free healthcare cover for yourself and any dependants to the Spanish healthcare system which is excellent. Dentists here in Spain are all private.

There are other legalities to go through to have a legal life here such as obtaining your NIE number and having a healthy bank balance etc.

After Brexit the requirements and regulations for applying for residency in Spain may change from the one's required at the moment.
