Hey All,

Happy holidays to all members ! As the title suggests, we r looking for somewhere that it would be possible to buy a nice good size traditional Christmas ham to put in the oven for that special dinner. We live in Polop but would be willing to drive somewhat if necessary as we often go to the end of our usual range such as north to Valencia or south to Mercia but obviously if there is somewhere closer. All help is greatly appreciated !

Dialprix supermarket sell hams. They are hanging up near the meat counter.

As you're from Canada you won't find Ham like you're used to (unfortunately). You have to boil it then roast. Go to your local butcher and ask for Pieza entera de Jamon York and what weight you want. Plenty of recipes online.

Good luck

Isn’t there an English butcher in the indoor market in Benidorm or I’m guessing there must be English butchers around La Nucia.

What’s the difference between Canadian ham and the ham I always have on Christmas Eve.

I usually cooked mine either in Coca Cola or a winter spiced stock and then glaze in the oven for 20 minutes

The hams in Canada are pre cooked and spiral sliced ready for the oven. All you have to do is decide what you want to roast it with. I like mine with maple syrup and beer. They are huge. My parents moved there in the late 70's so have had many trips over
