Thanks all, I can only assume the healthcare sector in Spain is a no go area, perhaps other sectors maybe more of a viable option 🤔

All job sectors in Spain are in dire straits and the unemployment crisis is an ongoing problem, as mentioned any job available will be offered to a Spanish National or EU citizen before being offered to a third nation citizen.

Hi there

Thanks all, this is where things get confusing as other research suggests non lucrative visa is for people who are retired and do not intend to work? Also some sites advise I must earn at least £6700. £27500 would be pretty much impossible to achieve. I'd never think things were soo complicated...

... 😕

The figure is 24000euro

That figure is incorrect.....

The income requirements for residency for the first person is €27,115.20. Any additional person,  ie spouse, would be an extra €6,778.80.

Plus healthcare.

I know that most replies seem to be bad news.

To be positive, you can come here without a visa and stay for 90 days.

My advice would be to come here and spend some time looking for a contract and/or employment. The sun is shining, cost of living is low and you will be welcomed. If it doesn't work out then nothing lost.

I would go for it.

Regards Stuart

I do not know how it works in Spain now for the newly created 3rd worlds but in other countries of the EU the employer has to "sponsor" the visa applicant and normally provide evidence that this 3rd worldly person has skills above and beyond any other applicant from the EU.

So the above post is the best way to go as you will probably have to have a willing employer vouch for you in the visa process in order to live and work here.

Going this way - having a job before you arrive could take the income figure and healthcare out of the equation ( this focus on the income or savings is from retired folk with their pensions) as you would be employed thus  "in the system" and paying for your healthcare thru this.. I would imagine the visa would be for the time on the employment contract and renewable.

If you are really serious then ask an immigration lawyer or contact the embassy directly.
