Hi
I am planning to move to Spain in the near future and will need a job.
I am a fit 60 year old with many years experience in care of various types, but mainly with learning disabilities and complex care needs. I am at present an NHS healthcare assistant on the stroke ward of my local hospital, and have worked in various different settings over the years. I am also trained in tracheostomy and ventilator care, PEG and NG feeding, Venepuncture and cannulation, wound assessment and pressure damage prevention, moving and handling and all aspects of personal care. I have NVQ2, Health and Social care, and have completed my care certificate and all NHS mandatory training. Although I don’t speak great Spanish at the moment I am learning. My partner will be coming on an NLV but I want to stay independent and need to work, which obviously means I need a job offer and a work visa. I will be living between Alfaz del Pi and La Nucia. I can  also drive.
At first I will have to be there on the 90/180 day rule so will be doing live-in care in the UK. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading this.

All available work must be offered to an EU citizen first by law. If the employer couldn't find any suitable candidate in all of the EU they could offer the position to a 3rd country citizen. You would need a definite job offer and your prospective employer would need to apply for the work visa on your behalf from the Spanish consulate in the UK.

If you are not an EU Passport holder or already have Spanish residency, you will need to apply for a work visa. The following link will provide you with further information:

My friend does the live in career role in the UK.She has lived legally in Spain for 25 years and her two sons are Spanish citizens. She found that with her skills she could not earn enough money in Spain. She now commutes and works approximately six months a year when she wants and earns enough that way.
