Hello my name is Steve and I am a mature pensioner seeking to retire to Spain. I have recently visited Benidorm to view flats and the experience wasn't very helpful. Although I tried as hard as possible the difficulties I had has not deterred me from trying even more.

I have all the relevant documents and although I am very British I am fortunate to have an Irish pasport and a reasonable income with a safe bank balance. After my previous experience I am seeking private accommodation or a flat share until I can obtain accommodation. Someone who has spare facilities would be ideal or who would entertain the idea of shared expenses. I hope that my request is met with honest consideration and I know there are some very helpful people in Benidorm.

Regards

Kelmenson

Hello

You sound like you’re in the same boat as me and I would really appreciate being in contact with you until I make my way to Benidorm and hopefully afterwards.

Kind regards

Terry

Hello, Terry,

Thanks for your reply to my posting. You have the same kind of outlook as myself. I am 85 in body but roughly

50 in mind.  Sadly I found I was out of my depth when I visted Benidorm for the 3rd time in 18 months in December.

On the face of it you should have no real problems as you will be looking to purchase a property, which, due to a financial

problem I am unable to do. My income is no problem and my bank balance is reasonable but only for long term renting and

the difficulty I have had is in finding somewhere that suits my needs.

When we have communicated further, I will send you very good contact in benidorm who is very conversant with most of

the day to day information that you could benefit from. Hope to hear from you soon.

Adios,

Steve

Hi Steve, it’s inspiring to see your determination! Retiring to Spain is a dream for many, and having an Irish passport will definitely smooth out the paperwork side of things. If you're open to flat shares, there are a few expat Facebook groups and local forums for Benidorm where people regularly post about room rentals or shared accommodations—those might be worth checking out. You could also consider short-term rentals to give yourself a bit more flexibility while continuing the search.
I totally understand the importance of feeling at home when you’re in a new place. When I travel, I rely on the cozy 4 star hotel Perth that I usually stay at, because having a comfortable and familiar base makes a big difference. Hopefully, you’ll find a similar setup in Benidorm soon.
