The law has changed you can only stay on campsites for 11 months at a time there are a couple of sites 8 km from Benidorm camping playa parisio is a lovely site right on the sea front imperium campsite in Villajoyosa or Torres campsite all very near Benidorm good luck

I think that is not correct information.

Looking at coming to southern Spain for a month to start with but looking to live long term. I am looking for cheap accommodation and was wondering if a caravan may be the cheapest option. Any ideas

No,  caravan sites are certainly not cheap. For a similar price you can rent a 2 bedroom apartment.

Some mobile home site have a basic annual charge, then extra for electricity supply, Internet supply, use of pool etc etc. Some sites charge if you have visitors staying overnight plus extra if your visitors use the facilities.

My annual costs for a 2 bedroom apartment in Benidorm is cheaper than some outlying mobile home sites.

If you are a UK passport holder and intend on living in Spain full time you will need to check out all the necessary information and requirements for a visa. The visa has set income and healthcare requirements.

If you are a UK passport holder you cannot stop in Spain for that length of time in one go. You are limited to the 90 in 180 day period. So if you come December 22nd you will have a maximum of 90 days stay.

Hello

A tent in the coldest, windiest  & possibly wettest months of the year would be horrendous.... dont even consider that ( not sure you could even rent one)

You would need  some form of  heating + warm clothes & bedding in a caravan, not really ideal for a pensioner.

Cheers

You would be better off starting your own thread as this one is years old and may not get many views.

You didn't mention where you are living now?

Have you the UK , EU or irish passport?

If you have a UK passport and want to stay in Spain long term make sure you have got the correct visa.
