My Green residency card runs out in 2 years, is it wise to wait till then to get the new white T I E card and will this be a permanent 10 year.

A green residency certificate doesn't expire.

A TIE would only be permanent if you've had a residency certificate for five years at the point of applying for a TIE.

If you did go for the TIE but had under the 5 years then even though the TIE will have a start date of when you applied for it and say  'temporal' when your actual 5 years are done you will, if you choose, be able to exchange it for a 10 year 'permanente' one although in truth it would make no practical difference to your status.

Unless you are very close to your 5 years then personally I can see no downside whatsoever in switching to a TIE.

Anyone care to try and make a valid and convincing case to the contrary?

Picked ours up yesterday BTW.

TIE renewal is interesting, as I've not yet seen any government information re what will be necessary for such a renewal.

A lady from South Africa who moved here on the strength of a long-term visa had to prove a bank balance of €30,000 to get her TIE, and was told that when it comes up for a two year renewal, she'd have to prove €60,000!

Do those who have a Withdrawal Agreement TIE have to wait five years, or ten years as appropriate, to find out? It won't affect me, as my TIE is for ten years, and I'll be long gone by then.

Thanks for the thought, but Ray will tell you - I seriously think that I'm on my final stretch. Just trying to create a 'how to' list for our two daughetrs.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

That will be interesting to say the least RayD.

Make sure it's before January too just in case they ask for different documents.

I do believe they might as lots of things are changing very quickly.

Sue 😘

This is all I know.

Why I can't upload a .pdf to the site I have no clue.

That's all I've seen as well, but I've not yet seen anything about what, if anything, is required to do a renewal.

Hopefully it will be as simple as it is for a Spaniard to renew a DNI.
