So, how friendly are Spaniards (and other Europeans who have moved to Spain) toward Americans? I'm thinking about moving there when I retire, or sooner if Donald Trump is elected president again. Our society has turned into something truly ugly and if Donald Trump is president for four more years, he'll do even more damage. Would an American still be welcomed in Spain?

Well, I have holidayed and toured from Girona in the north travelling down along the Mediterranean coastal routes and round to Cadiz on the Atlantic coast over many years, then after that taking the easy way by flying and booking self accommodation. Saying all that I have found what I would call the easy going southern Spanish people very nice friendly persons, but you get good and bad in everyone. As said good and bad in everyone, I really can’t speak for British,German,Dutch,Scandinavians! As I have got to say I have found ignorant or know it and done it all people. As for mid to northern Spanish people I find they are more abrupt and not so helpful or friendly. But this is my own personal experience over many years and love having my own property in Torrevieja Costa Blanca Spain, it beats being in the UK by miles, Sorry I don’t know any North Americans, but have met South American’s here.

My husband Bob and I are moving to Spain from the U.S. on August, forever!!

When we stayed in Benissa a couple of years ago we fell in love with everything..including the very friendly Spainards!!

We ended buying a house in Benitachell, which is quite close to Benissa.

We feel the same way about Trump and where our country is headed as you do.

Spain took an active approach to this virus and really stopped it from getting worse.  If you check the news you will see that the deaths are very few.  I actually do not think there have been any in our area.

All my best,

Lisa

Mbadgett1, welcome to the forum and best wishes in your proposed  future in Spain.  Lisa Anne , in The European areas, Russia top the list of countries for cases of Coronavirus virus contagion, followed by the UK, and Spain then follow on in third place.

The contagion was most certainly not contained adequately in any of those three countries.

Good morning,

Yes, you are correct.  We keep track as to what is going on with the virus.

The United States is in serious trouble.

At least Spain is doing something about it.

Take care,

Lisa
