Many references have been made by members about `cloud`wifi. technology but nobody seems able to explain what exactly it is...Therefore can any member tell us all the benefits and possible advantages this technology has over conventional land based aerial to recipient wifi? Getting a `I use so and so cloud wifi and it is brilliant ` is an opinion that helps nobody.. Relevant  information not opinion is wanted. An ignorant member, Alexander.

"The cloud" just means on the internet - ie available from anywhere. So for example if you save pictures on your PC you can only get them from that PC, if you store them "in the cloud" you can access from anywhere.

Wifi is a separate subject, you can get wifi with an aerial, through a phone line or more commonly through fibre. The difference will be the speed you get. fibre will be the fastest.

There is no such thing as cloud wifi. As GraemeP noted, it's likely the case of mixing fancy words together, even though they are completely different technologies.

I think you may be referring to a mesh system. See extract from tplink website:

“Mesh WiFi is a whole home WiFi system built to eliminate dead zones and to provide uninterrupted WiFi throughout your home.

Mesh routers enable devices in your network to have faster speeds, greater coverage, and a more reliable connection. While traditional routers broadcast WiFi from a single point, mesh WiFi systems have multiple access points.”

I currently have a tplink Deco M5 system and get full coverage both inside my house and all over the sun terrace and garden. It also brings an additional level of security to the wifi system.

As has been noted there is no such thing as cloud wi fi. As Pauland mentions you may be thinking of a mesh wi fi. I have a TP Link Deco M4 mesh system and I can recommend it, my wi fi now reaches all 4 corners of my property (including the garden).

Those are just marketing names/company names though. Similar case if I named my company "pneumatic drill motor vehicles".

These companies just use 4G mobile data to provide internet, they just use the word cloud as their names.

I think that they are mixing up different terminologies. Access to the internet is achieved through a router/modem. How this router/modem is supplied with a connection is the question. Normally this connection is supplied from phoneline/cable/fibre or from a satellite connection or by using the mobilephone network  over 4G/5G, and the distributed around your house by WiFi.. I believe people are misnaming satellite and mobilephone networks as "Cloud"
