Sceptic tank habituation certificate

Hello,

We are in the process of trying to sell our villa in Busot and have come up against the problem of our sceptic tank being fitted before this new certificate was introduced. Unfortunately our road is not any time soon going to be having waste pipes from each property to the main road.

Has anyone any tips to circumnavigate this certificate (our septic tank has had little use as it’s a holiday home) seems a money maker to us.

Any recommendations for companies that fit these things?

Any info much appreciated.

Hi Eliza,

When you say the "new certificate", do you mean the Habitation certificate, which has to be renewed every 10 years? If so, Edward in Busot has the same problem, so this thread may answer your queries:

It will cost around 2,500 euros with tank, installation and architect (compulsory). To avoid having to empty it every 6 months send me a PM and I will advise.

Did you have the waste system installed?the reason I ask is many houses have a fosse soakaway which is not the same. Sooner or later all of these will have to be replaced with a Fosse septique and certified as fit for purpose. In your case you could get the certificate,if any problems come to an agreement financially with your buyer.
