Having tried various routes with three big Weimaraners, the least stressful for ALL of us is a sedate drive down through France. My friend from Dublin uses the Fishguard ferry, then drives down to Poole for the 4 1/2 hr Cherbourg crossing ( which is the one I use to get back to Cornwall). Really, taking your time driving through France with many dog- friendly hotels and plenty of places to stop and exercise en route is actually a joy and the reason we choose to travel and not huddle behind the front door in England

Good luck

Ruby

We are transporting our dog back to uk. Try looking up pet transport  as they collect and deliver

We are just awaiting a quote so cannot tell you the charge but it's not cheap

Why would you pay a stranger to do a simple drive up through Spain and France?

My fella would cry and fret if I left him with someone he didn't know so we don't really have a choice.but to drive.

Had a bad experience using the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, it was anything but dog friendly....now we take a leisurely drive up to Cherbourg, plenty of nice walks on the way and dog friendly hotels
