We have been banking with bankia for a few years and we have had nothing but trouble..  they keep on blocking our account so access is difficult.  The help line is not fit for purpose and they just tell me to log in and they said i will need to reset my password but when they ring it will all be in Spanish.  They are not helpful in the local branch and quite rude.  Anyway my question is can anyone recommend a decent bank in Cabo Roig where communication is easy and if i choose a new bank do they just transfer everthing over or do i have to do that?  We have house insurance with them too..  thanks for any help :)

I'm not with Bankia, I'm with Sabadell.

But if you were Spanish and you moved to London and opened an account with Natwest would you expect them to speak Spanish to you on the helpline and in branch? Didn't think so.

Just saying......don't shoot the messenger, if you open a bank account in a foreign country they're likely to conduct their business in a foreign language. Exceptions USA and others....

Sabadell meanwhile do offer an English speaking service, but most British people don't want to pay the fees for the peace of mind.......

Thank you for your reply...

I obviously dont expect the banks to speak English i was asking for recommendations for a bank that does speak a little English.

My issues are with the bank constantly blocking and I am having issues with access.

Thanks

I hope you get it sorted out.

Sabadell have English speaking staff in branches, and a very good app in English too. They also have a helpline where you can request your conversation in English. The charges at Sabadell are regarded as some of the highest around but it depends whether people feel this cost is worth it for peace of mind when it comes to problem resolution.

Kind regards

Steve

Hi. We have been with Bankia for quite a few years now. Starting with Caja Murcia and so on through the mergers. We have always found them pretty good, but if we need anything we go to the branch at El Altet or email our contact at the branch who does speak pretty good English. El Altet is about 15 mins from where we live, so not our local branch, but where we opened our account 17 years ago. Unfortunately in any Spanish bank, its pot luck what service you get. Now of course Bankia has merged with Caixa Bank, so let's see what delights that will offer 🤔

Steve, I actually disagree. Whenever I have been in Bankia near Cabo Roig, I have always been greeted with english speaking staff and the clientele in the bank are predominantly english.

If the location of the branch has a large number of English customers, then yes I would expect the company to accommodate.

On a slightly different issue, I am having difficulty accessing my Bankia account because when asking me to confirm mobile number, the app is stating it is incorrect, even though I have just been texted a passcode!

Anyone had this issue? I cant get out of the password loop on the site because I cant confirmmy mobile number. And the telephone numbers provided seem useless.

I had a bit of a problem too but try amending your details by deleting your number and save, and then go back in to enter the number again.

I have had a response from Bankia, and it worked.

You have to log in via the desktop site, not the app. In the desktop you can verify the full number.
