These two papers have an ongoing feud.

Like most newspapers take all with a pinch of salt. (some are good only for eating  fish ´n chips from).

Hi Monkey,

I saw that EW story regurgitated on Fakebook yesterday and jumped on it straight away.

Responsibility for Covid-19 infection control currently sits with the autonomous regional governments.  Unless the Spanish government introduces a new State of Alarm (and I can't see the politicians in low or zero infection areas voting for that), there is currently no legal mechanism for locking down the whole of Spain again.

Why a freebie Spanish rag would want to bite the hand(s) that feed it is beyond me.  Makes you wonder how their advertisers feel about the story...... 🤦‍♀️

Kind regards,

Kim

You really can't believe what you read in the free newspapers or unverified statements on the Forum, that's why I rely on official Government websites and reliable sources like El Pais.

"people now in the UK will think again about booking in September"

Really, you think?

I know many people are congenital gullible (no other way to explain Brexshite) but do you honestly think that the fraction of a fraction of a fraction of would be UK holiday makers who even know of the publication, let alone read it will, based on that errant and widely condemned and refuted piece alone, throw up their hands and say "that's it then, we can't go to Spain"!

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

They even make it worse by copying and pasting stories from each others papers.

I prefer to take my information from either the La Moncloa site or the N332 Facebook page.

Many people read this forum and become frightened when they read information such as this. I have read some very encouraging posts from people who have travelled with EasyJet and Ryanair but am still like (MANY) others loath to travel abroad. I am going to wait to see/ hear the result at the end of August as to whether or not the Spanish visitors from Madrid and elsewhere have caused any infections Or indeed other tourists for that matter.

Many, many people who have stayed at home this summer have discovered the beauty of their out country and are loving it. We too are losing out badly on the lack of American tourists who come over to play golf. Hopefully, next year we will see them return but who knows what to expect.

I cannot believe how many people have descended here all summer and having the time of their lives. I honestly believe that many of us will rethink our choice of holiday. The number of youngsters with their wet suits and surf boards in the sea is a joy to behold. People walk the beach from early morning till late at night. We raced over the sand hill last evening to have a quick walk before LINE OF DUTY came on at 9o’clock,  the sun was setting over Donegal in a ball of fire, the sea was lapping in gently, the sky was magnificent and as ever, the walkers were either heading to the bar mouth or returning from it. Soft, soft pale sand. Magic.   We don’t need to go away..... yet!
