"I got full refund from a trip to Naples cancelled in March"
TBH I think I would have stopped right there!

Just about sums up Ryanair total con artist he will test it he market if is busy he will put prices up to get the money back from those who want cash. But when the dust settles people will still go with them standing up on one leg if they could save €10. Good luck.

No it was me ! They had to give a refund as Italy went in to total lockdown and banned all travel , I bet o'Leary was nearly sick giving out them refunds !but he still done me on the end by "waiving" the fee to book again then ramping up the price! I do agree with your feelings towards them but like you say people will always use them, last year we used jet2 in the summer it was £600 for us happy days, the same dates this year....£1100 ! So I had to swallow my pride and go with Ryanair, I emailed jet2 to ask why they almost doubled in price, their reply was our fares go up and down depending on the need of them , I said well you certainly haven't redused your prices in the weeks/month's I was looking, they didnt reply back anymore!!

An update re Ryanair. I had a flight to Alicante booked for 24 May. Received an email from Ryanair yesterday informing me it's been cancelled (as expected) and offering me a link to get a refund, no mention of vouchers. They also offered a re-schedule of it but I'm not interested.Quite painless really, the link sent me to a screen to fill my details in, and promised a refund directly back to my card within 20 working days. Obviously I won't hold my breath, but it appears they may have changed their policy on vouchers perhaps....

Absolutely take your point Graham but equally consumers should feel protected by EU law. Most informed people will expect Ryanair to take the pi$$. My wrath is directed at the (non) enforcement agencies such as the CAA. It only takes a call to slick mick pointing out that he'll have his licences to operate in the UK revoked if he doesn't make it easy and straightforward for customers to get their cash back in accordance with the law. The collective angst of thousands of disappointed customers at the way they are being treated, particularly at this difficult time for folks is absolutely despicable. And for those who are buying the bullshit about the logistical difficulties of processing claims.....think of this. Ryanair can take your money when you book in seconds....why can't they reconfigure the systems to reverse the process.Put in your booking reference....automatically cross check it's a cancelled flight....automatically reverse the charge to credit/debit card used and denote the booking as refunded. Hardly rocket science.
