Positive news regarding flight refund my sons friend was going to Majorca next week few days cycling 10 lads last week Jet2holidays cancelled trip.yesterday my sons friend phoned them all to say he had received full refund in his account £4000,went on Twitter few other people had also received refunds if one can do it they all can. Still waiting for reply from Ryanair asking how many people have they actually given a refund to anyone on this forum actually seen any cash.people are serving time for less than what O’Leary is doing.

Same as us they owe us for two flights wife goes out October with Sister for one week-staying for 2nd week now I am going out to her 4hrs she spent last night changing her return flight started at £18 ended up £109 and you do all the work they don’t get involved then the wife realised she had put the incorrect reference number in by mistake they are saying she will have to pay another£109 to change it . They are not fit for purpose at least the wife as agreed no matter how cheap they are we will not be using them again ever.thank God she has finally listened to me after 5 yrs flying to Alicante.

O'leary was on TV the other morning pointing out that where they would normally expect to process some 10's of thousands of refunds each month they are now faced with 10 or 12 million, each of which requires individual attention, and that from a team 25% reduced by illness or self isolation.

At the current rate of processing he said it could take up to 6 months to clear the backlog.

Vouchers can be processed automatically.

If you were running a business with a sudden 1000% escalation in demands for refunds do you think you'd do any better?

That is not a defence of RA just a simple statement of the reality of the situation.

For comparison on average RA fly as many pasengers in 6 weeks as Jet2 do in an entire year.

I totally agree with his problems my argument is I don’t believe he has any intention of paying any body.i will ask for fifth time on the Forum has anyone received a cash refund from Ryanair since this started.no matter how few staff and slow the process someone some where surely would have received a refund by now.

"in the time it took to reply to me they could of sorted my refund"

Or looking at it another way, time spent responding to inquiries from people who believe it might somehow push them up the queue is time which could have been spent processing an actual refund.

Also it stands to both reason and fairness that refunds would broadly follow the order in which flights were cancelled in which case no amount of badgering will accelerate a refund before your time is due.

It should not be forgotten too that it's only because lockdowns precipitated blanket cancellations that many refunds are due at all, in the normal course of events cancellations generally happen much closer to an actual flight date and it would only have been then that entitlement to a refund arose so in that sense people with flights weeks and months away in the future are already ahead in the game.
