Hi,

Anyone any ideas on why, every time I switch my boiler on, it’s tripping the whole sytem, as in, we are without electricity until I flick it back on. The actual boiler switch stays upright but the second switch from the right flips! Am I being daft or do I need an electrician?

Needing my showers back! Many thanks

That's your circuit breaker, It means you have power going directly to earth. Think you should call an electrician or a plumber, as the boiler probably needs replacing.

Another. Reason for this could be that smart meters have been installed in your area.

Smart meters are being installed which limit the amount of power that can be used at any one time.

When this is done everyone is put on the lowest potencia and you have to go to Iberdrola with ID and proof of ownership to have it increased. Going up one level should sort it. This will cost 60€ to set up and will then cost a little more each day in the standing charges.

I have been told that a boiler should last about 5 years but as mine is only 18 months old I have yet to test this.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Morning, found orange water under the boiler this morning. ( Saw some yesterday but was unsure of source) Now I can see drips from underneath the water heater. Oh dear me, guess it’s corrosion 😳 So am guessing a plumber now?

Thank you for all the help, great forum!

Hi Trudi,

I am an English Electrician in Lomas de Cabo Roig.

I can confirm the advice given by Pete to be correct, in that an Earth leakage problem at your boiler. The    RCD. device you indicate as having tripped detects such Earth leakage and trips at a set level for the whole Electrical installation at your property at usually 30 milli amps. All appliances with heating elements such as boilers, washing machines, ovens, hobs, kettles and toasters etc can contain a value of Earth leakage.

Hi, I am basically across the AP7 from you then. A plumber has messaged me and said that he can supply and fit a boiler. What I do know is that the leak from the front of the boiler is more evident now, so a bowl is under it.

Presume the electrics are safe as long as I don’t put the boiler on?

Many thanks

Hi Trudu, Yes, I am up the road from Cabo Roig ' Strip'.

The Boiler would normally have an Isolating 'Stop' Tap very near to it which can be used to shut off its water supply for Maintenance or in an Emergency situation leaving only the water then present within the boiler , and no more able to entetr it ,however , depending upon which type of system is installed, it could mean you would then be left with only a Water supply to the unheated  ' Cold ' taps , including the Shower.

The Electrical supply to the Boiler can be via an adjacent switch or Plug and Socket arrangement and if isolated from there then no Electricity should be reaching the Boiler.
