There is a danger. Of course. Especially for retired people who crave company. And especially dangerous for people who find money in their pockets that they didn't have before. You can choose to plan your life in a way that avoids it or you can join in.
I chose to avoid it. But preaching to adults of the dangers wont win you many friends! I have neighbours nearby who will happily booze til 4.am and they're out of the drive at 12 to meet friends for a lunchtime beer. If people are stupid enough to do it, so be it, life is full of people who make mistakes I'm afraid. He who casts the first stone and all that.....
