Can anyone help please ? I need to get private healthcare insurance for my residencia in Sept .obviously not an expensive one

Hi Ralph, we took out private medical insurance for our whole family, for residency, me, husband and two teenage boys with Mapfre. Only 180.00 a month (also included in that is house insurance) for all of us, if it is for just you think it would be much cheaper.

Go on line and check the prices, they can give you the documents immediately, (two cites one Spanish and one English) make sure you also have a letter also from them which states no copago. Residency will not except your insurance without that written.

Hi Ralph,

We're with ASSSA, but there are a lot of companies offering PHI and I'd recommend getting several quotes to compare the cost and level of cover. Bear in mind that Basic cover and policies that allow co-payments are insufficient for Residencia; also, you will need to pay a full year in advance and ask for confirmation in writing from your insurer, as this proof will be required at the appointment for your Residencia application.

As others have suggested get a few quotes, I can recommend Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurances, he is very professional and helpful, they advertise on the Forum or see the link. Due to dishonest people paying their PHI in instalments and then cancelling the Policy once they had their Residencia you now have to prove you have a full year paid for at the time of your Residencia Appointment. Also, not all PHI has the acceptable level of cover so cheapest is not always best.
