Is it possible to get a prescription for BP tablets as my doctor in the UK will only give me 24 days worth as new tablets but I am coming for 7 weeks.

You can get BP tablets over the counter. Take an empty box to the Farmacia to get the same or similar. Mine cost around €3.00 for a months worth.

Oh wow, without any tests.  Thanks for the reply.  Is that all I have to do?  No prescription.

No tests, no prescriptions. As tebo53 stated, just take your box/boxes into any farmacia and they will give them to you. I've been doing this for quite some time now.

Having said that, when I was resident in the UK and coming to Spain for an extended period my VP would always give me a prescription to cover that time period. Strange that yours won't.

Thanks for the reply.  I have been living in Malta for 11 years and was diagnosed there 12 months ago but now back in the UK and on my last few tablets from malta before I go to Spain for a good few weeks.  Today was my first visit to a UK Dr and he said he would only give me 14 as I need monitoring as they don't have the same pills as I was on in Malta.  Funny how you can just get them over the counter In Spain with no monitoring, he also said I would need kidney tests and bloods done before he prescribed anymore.   I just don't want to take the risk of not getting any in Spain.  Almopine I think is what he prescribed.

You have provided the right answer yourself.

Sounds like the correct information from your Doctor in UK.    That is what best medical practice is all about.

Yes, by all means in an emergency it is helpful that Spanish Pharmacies will provide some types of medication.

But thats just the point,  ONLY in an emergency.

People need various tests when they are taking long term medications.   That is what doctors decide because they are qualified to do so.

Hopefully you will get your prescription sorted out soon and enjoy your holidays in Spain

Regards

Maria

Thank you for the reply.  I realise that he is probably right and thinking of me however I would like to know if I would be able to get tablets over the counter as the previous people have said.
