The dialysis centres are very busy, and I have my doubts as to whether you could be scheduled for treatment just by asking.

Much better to ask your UK medical centre or area health authority, and see if they could make prior arrangements for you in Spain.

As you can only be here for a maximum of 90 days your chances of getting an appointment for routine dialysis within that will almost certainly pretty much nil.

You won't like this but being brutally honest given the pressures the Spanish health service is under because of COVID it has to be said that to be asking it to provide you with such a service simply because you've chosen to come here on holiday I would say is unlikely to garner you too much sympathy.

In any case this is not what an EHIC is for, it's it's intends to cover you for medical treatment which becomes necessary during a visit, in other words sudden illnesses, accidents and emergencies, so unless the condition which requires dialysis has suddenly arisen during your visit then it doesn't fall within it's scope.

Nothing to stop you going private of course, you'd probably get an appointment within days.

Try the private hospital in Torrevieja.

t's looking likely that you will be able to continue to use your ehic card after brexit, your dialysis unit in the UK will have a coordinator, they will liaise with Madrid about dialysis in Spain, you are covered for pre-existing illnesses such as dialysis, I have used it for 8 years , there is a dialysis unit in Torrevieja ,Elche , Alicante, and Benidorm, excellent service from all.. good luck.

Torrevieja University Hospital but you need to arrange it beforehand. They have a large, separate dialysis unit there with reserved parking for users.
