I have a property in Cabo Roig for a number of years. House insurance has always been paid through our bank (LaCaixa). At this point we have little use for our bank account and only use it to make our monthly insurance payments. Bank charges have increased substantially in recent months and this is adding to our insurance costs.

We are planning to close our bank account and I am looking for recommendations for an insurance company or broker who will take an annual payment for house insurance.

Anyone have recommendations.

Alfonso at Gran Alacant who advertises here is highly recommended.

Moreover, insurence capitals and premiums are "adjusted" automatically every year, which is nonese as used items never increase in value. In order not to get trapped one must protest 30 days prior to the due date, and in moist cases can continue with the old premium. Then it's very important to read the smallprint of the "general condiitons", usually a nice booklet with some x00 pages. You'll be amazed abot the exclusions and limitations (some require a second lock at the main entrance door, there is a maximum of days during which the house cannot be left uninhabited, and much more.
