Just read on the TalkQuesada forum that a colleague who is 64 with no underlying medical condition, taking no medication and she has been scheduled for her first vaccine on  6 April in Torrevieja and an appt. for her follow up already given to her.

I know of residents in Catral over 60 and 70 with lung and heart conditions and having monthly injections to help them. ...

I think that’s for Astra Zeneca, which is only being used for those born between 1956 and 2003. The 83 year old posted will have received a different vaccine.

Copied from another group

The messages people are getting to their phones about the AstraZeneca vaccine is for the UNDER 65’s. If you are 66, 67, 68 or any older whatsoever you will not be receiving this jab. Vaccines are being given due to supply and at the moment the available vaccines are ...

...the AstraZeneca ones.

If you are over 65 you will get your appointment as soon as they have vaccines available, you will also receive a call from your medical centre which is where your jab is most likely to be given to you to stop unnecessary travel for vulnerable people.

Hi My Mother and Father are 71 years old and been residents of Spain 10 years and have flown back to the UK with the appropriate tests costing £620.00 and now waiting to register with my GP so they can have the AZ jab.

They have also said they had the perfect medical care in Spain but do not want to to take the risk of getting this horrible covid virus.

I think they will still in UK with me until they receive the booster jab.

The initial recommendation was 3 weeks between doses. The UK decided to go to 12 weeks between doses so that they could give a larger number partial protection, rather than a smaller group fuller protection. A gap of anywhere between 3 and 12 weeks is what the UK are allowing between doses.

I believe the UK is applying this approach to both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.

My GP told me you CANNOT get a 2nd Atra Zeneca vaccine before a minimum of 11 weeks has passed.

Apparently  the Pfizer vaccine can be given earlier but they are trying to keep it to the 11- 12 weeks as they have no proof of any benefits of having it earlier.

Well I would certainly listen to your GP rather than me!

I think what the GP was referring to is the NHS policy not the manufacturers guidelines. See the comments in the article below.

The NHS are certainly offering some 2nd Astra Zeneca and Pfizer jabs less than 12 weeks after the first.  Not many but if the vaccine is there to be used up and it is people awaiting their 2nd vaccine that are around then they are being given their 2ndjab. The NHS preferred minimum gap is 6 weeks but a few get theirs even earlier.  I got my 2nd after 5 weeks.  The supply of vaccine is lumpy and bumpy so it will never be exactly 12 weeks for all .
