My wife and I are both UK pensioners. We have our own house in Catral and Spanish residency. We have the completed S1 forms from the UK, an updated Padron and proof of residence stamped by the local police. We first tried the office in Dolores and were informed we had to register in Catral. At the health centre in Catral, we were told we had to go to Orihuela. On arriving at Orihuela, we were told we needed an appointment. We have tried to make an appointment using the telephone number provided, without success and also tried the seg-social.es website, both attempts resulting in the response that no appointments are available. Can anyone suggest how we can obtain our SIP cards ?

Hello

I  think you'll find it is just constant trying on both systems- until you are offered an appointment, unless you want to pay a local Gestor to do it for you. The INSS in Torrevieja is exactly the same & can take months, it's always busy.

Incidentally when I came to live here, Torrevieja didnt have an established INSS office so my S1 was registered in Orihuela  so it didnt relate  to where I live.( not sure whether any INSS office will be ok)

Good Luck

Cheers

The easiest way is to get a Gestor to do it for you. It will be worth the cost to avoid the frustration of constantly trying to get an appointment. Gestors often have block booking privileges and, if you can't speak Spanish very well, will translate if needed....job sorted.

Hello

This is not the same thing, it isn't the official  Dept of Social Security -( Spanish  INSS),.....  It  sends you to  a link to download a form (in Spanish). to  complete , you do need paperwork from the INSS to take to your salud to register  and be allocated a Dr.

If anyone has done this  via the  form successfully, please post info.  on the forum , as it would help people who are  waiting for an appt.

Cheers

This is a 'how to' page with all the correct links.  Last year in October We made our applications using this page as a reference and the links therein.  Four weeks later we received confirmation from the INSS in an email that our application had been approved and shortly after our SIP cards from our local health centre.  You can check online for the progress of and even add any missing or useful documents to your application once you have made it.

You can send everything by post to Orihuela, it takes about 2 weeks to come back. Send copies of S1, passport and,TIE with a covering letter by registered post

You need a translator if your Spanish is not good. We went to Dolores to get our sip cards
