Hello forum, forgive me if this has been asked before but are there any English speaking doctors in the Medical clinic in Catral.

And how do you go about registering ( I assume there is certain criteria that you have to conform with to be able to register )

Thankyou

You don’t register for a doctor here in the same way as in the uk. Firstly, are you a legal resident? If so, if you have private medical insurance, they will have a list of doctors in your area with whom they contract services.

If you have a SIP card, which entitles you to use the Spanish health system, on the back of it will be the name of the doctor to whom you are assigned.

Hi Billy, as far as I'm aware they don't have English speaking doctors in the Catral medical centre and in fact there is a prominent notice at reception saying that if you don't speak English you need to bring an interpreter - although that is more about dealing with admin issues and the reception staff - whether any of the doctors are fluent enough to have a clinical conversation I'm not entirely certain. In terms of accessing actual health care now the UK is not in the EU you need a Valencia health card ( in some health centres prior to Brexit you could use your passport if you needed urgent attention), and to get that you need a Certificado de Empadronamiento from the Catral council offices. Don't know enough about your circs to help further but if you are retired you should have completed an S1 form. You can get comprehensive advice about getting health care in Spain from the Citizens Advice Spain website. Hope that helps -others may be able to offer additional info.
