Hi, sorry for the random question but it occurred to me if we bought a farm would this require a working visa, if say the produce was sold. like olives, almonds

If you are from UK then yes. An entrepreneur visa would probably be the best and you have to submit a working business plan showing income/outgoings etc. The good thing with this one is that you can apply whilst in Spain but must show you have the necessary qualifications. Also employing local staff would be a plus. They are looking for innovative ideas that would be of benefit to Spain and the community. If it competes with other similar businesses in the area it would not be viable.

There is a self employed visa if you are not planning on employing local staff. Activity permits and licences plus a detailed business plan is also required. You would also need to show the planned financial requirements which, if from UK, would be in the region of 35,000 euro per year for a couple.

Unless you are paying more than 500,000 euro for it then a golden visa would be available.

If travelling on a Non Lucrative Visa you would not be allowed to work or engage in any trade.

Probably better ldea to let it to a nearby farmer, or have let them look after it for a cut of the crop - I could use it to  learn the ropes of olive farming LOL

good to know I can still live/own a farm with non luc visa without having to farm it  - plan is to retire and chill not run a farm but who knows
