Yes the death rates have more to do with the quality of health care received, certainly there should only be shame in some of the EU countries when compared with Germany.. Covid-19 Infections rose by about 30% in the UK yesterday to 2K.

Not sure the death rate only relates to care received - in the UK we have a fantastic health service which was not overwhelmed - the large death. rate resulted in the large infection rate due to late lock down, lack of industry to produce tests, lack of industry to produce PPE, lack of industry to procuce chemicsls to make tests and lack of laboratories. Germany did so well because they invested in all these things over the years and were reday for their lockdown and with a plan to test, isolate and protect.......oh wait what we are doing now some 10 weeks later!

Over the years I have been to visit people in German hospitals in the N and S of Germany, Healthcare is private and I only ever saw 1 person to a room, certainly nothing like the best State hospitals In N Italy or from what I have seen the UK or Spain.

The Figures I posted are the official Spanish ones and show a death rate against tested Infection of around 11%, The figure would be much worse if you remove those that are at home or display no symptoms from those infected, but what is the point?

There are many more infected that have not been tested and many more whose deaths were not registered as due to Covid when in reality they were. I take the official figures and for me the Infection curves are all that really matter. Yesterday in Italy they nearly doubled overall mainly due to the increase in Lombardia.

The official infection rate in Italy went from 584 to 593 yesterday - but again that is only those tested there will be much more in the community who were never tested. The death rate you are talking about is known deaths divided by known cases. If the actual deaths  divided by the number of infections was anything like 10% then that would be a massive problem since it is still estimated that most of us will get it if a vaccine is not found. The figures quoted for the UK even without any social distancing was a death rate of around 250 thousand for the poulation of 65million. Using your death rate that would equate to around 5.2 milion deaths - I don't think the actual death rate is anything like 10% nor does the WHO.

Yes you're right....death rates hugely inflated if you use tested positive as the denominator. Best estimates at the moment are around 0.5% total deaths to infections.

The UK is well on route like the US. Over 1 million infected, 100,000+ deaths. We will see what happens, Also it appears now that the antibody protection only lasts 6 months, vaccines will not be very effective. China beat the Yanks probably only by months, Genoma modification was not particularly good but who throws the next dice will get the sixes............... Conspiracy? I started writing something along these lines in 2000 when Carter made a mega gaff stating publicly that the US had the complete human genoma. Shame I didn't finish it.
