You need to obtain a license from the ayuntamiento In Guardamar

That’s when the fun begins as you are have to provide detailed information and drawings of the work you are having done and with Guardamar you also need to plan well in advance.

We’ve had exterior work done and our builder obtained the licences from Guardamar on our behalf. Now if Guardamar say it will take 8 weeks, it will take 8 weeks. Our builder hassled them on a weekly basis and we eventually got the license through after 7 weeks and 5 days!

What’s more frustrating is the neighbouring municipality of Rojales, will rubber stamp the form within a couple of days.

But as Cheryl said previously you are highly unlikely to have a detailed description on your deeds of your bathroom, so I can understand why most people wouldn’t bother.

Lynn

We have an apartment on the 3rd floor so I think it is advisable to have one.

Our builder insisted on getting a permit for us, cost a small percentage of the total cost and at least we are legal.

The builder is correct (there is people that make the correct way every people dont belive). It is an small tax (people pay taxes even when they buy bread).

The point is: the tax is small but and the builder would garanty that there is not problem if someone that lives arround you complain to the police. In case the police checks the tax become so much more bigger.

Regards.

I would disagree that it's an ignored rule. It's very easy to do and not costly. Any reputable company will advise that it's necessary - a legal requirement.

Yes I agree, did mine at the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) for a few Euros.
