Need urgent Covid-19 vaccinations but not registered on Spanish social

You do not state your ages, as the vaccine roll out is based on age groups. I am on the understanding that the EU Covid vaccination x 2 certificate passport will not cover your entry back into England with out the need to quarantine? Although the Spanish accept the English 2 jab certificate without the need to quarantine? Go to your local health centre again and try to register your husband taking with you a up to date padron, Spanish contact/phone number, TIE, passport and PHI. You can not pay for the Covid vaccination in Spain.

Thank you for your help.  I am 52 and my husband is 54.  We were of the understanding that England would accept both vaccinations regardless of which country they were done in, in order to avoid the self-isolation rule when arriving in the UK, however, I am now starting to think this only applies to UK residents who have had both vaccinations done in the UK and are returning home, i.e. from holiday abroad, who can avoid self-isolation. 

Do you know if it is necessary for us to register with the social system, or if having the temporary SIP cards will be enough for us to automatically get into the system for the vaccinations?  

My husband had all his paperwork with him when we went to the medical centre, so I don't know why they refused to do his SIP card (they said we had to register with the social in Elche before they would do his).  

We will go back to the medical centre and try again to get his SIP.

You only go to the Spanish social = INIS? When you’re registering for work/benefits/Spanish health system, this will include registering a UK S1 nhs to get into the Spanish health system Uk state pensioners or a Uk citizen or partner claiming health benefits, is your husband receiving any Uk health benefits, if so perhaps that is why they said go to the social? If not go back to your local health centre and register for a temporary sip stating for the use of only receiving the vaccine and not for any health or medical purposes, with padron, TIE, Passport, PHI, Spanish phone number. Edit Spanish country wide vaccination figures up to 15th July having their first vaccination (not regional figures) Age group 40 to 49 = 78%, age group 50 to 59 = 90%. 

You say you need to return urgently to the U.K. but have not had any jabs yet.

To get a temporary SIP you need your  passport, TIE, padron , private health card and some saluds are asking for EHIC’s.   Also Spanish Mobile number. Keep on trying again at your local salud.

You both need to have temporary SIP cards and should really have applied for these when announced months ago. This is why you’ve been missed when your age group was called for vaccination. Putting that aside it is only NHS certificates that will allow you not to isolate when the rules change on 19th July.

Once you have your temporary SIP cards it is a question of waiting for the appointment time to be sent through to your Spanish mobile.
Even if you had a jab tomorrow, it would be at least 3 weeks  before you could have your second jab.

Then your Covid passport isn’t valid until 14 days after your last jab. You’re therefore looking at a minimum of 5 weeks before you could use a Covid passport. .Hopefully in 5 weeks time the U.K. will recognise the EU Covid certificate.

Sounds like you need to return before then, so your only option is to take a fit to fly antigen test. Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests and isolate for 10 days. If you’re returning to England you’ve got the option of taking the early release test on day 5.

Thank you so much for all this information.  This has been so helpful to me and I really appreciate it.  Unfortunately we only arrived here in October last year and its taken until only recently to get all our paperwork, padrons, NIEs etc in place.  Unfortunately, we were unaware that we needed a temporary SIP card to get the vaccinations.  We will go back to the medical centre tomorrow.  My SIP is only valid for one month so I am assuming that will be enough to get me in the system.

Thank you Lynn.  I was wondering about renewing the SIP card.  Mine is only valid for one month.  If I get the first vaccine and the SIP nears its expiry, I will renew it in case it stops me getting the second vaccine.

If you were asked at the time for your EHIC card then you’re temporary sip card would have only been valid up to the expiry date of your EHIC or once obtaining private health insurance cover and residency your EHIC would have become null and void. At the start of registering many months ago I was turned away 3 times for not having a valid EHIC and also sent to the Spanish social security office!!! Where I explained that I was not a UK state pensioner and that I was resident in Spain living of my own private means with PHI and not entitled to a EHIC, on my 4th visit to my local health centre somebody actually understood my request and was very helpful. All UK resident state pensioners are eligible to use the old ehic and since brexit they are entitled to the new GHIC card to be shown for medical treatment in Spain in conjunction with their S1 or any country in the EU, as Uk state pensioners do not require private health insurance like us under Uk state pensionable age. So showing your TIE and private health insurance, passport, up to date padron and having a Spanish mobile number should be sufficient for both of you to apply for a vaccination only sip card.

We went back to Crevillente Health Centre today and told them we needed the SIP for the covid19 vaccination only.  This time they set up one for my husband and added both our names to a hand written Covid Vaccine sign-up sheet.  They said we will receive a phone call with our vaccination appointments.  I am assuming we go back there to the same place for the vaccinations?
