Hello

We are looking to moving to Denia to retire. Can any one give us an idea of the cost of living and the amount we would possibly need per month to comfortably live on?

much appreciated

regards

Hi Grant and Bryony, it's very difficult to say as it very much depends on the size of the property, if you will have the air con on 24/7 cooling in the summer and heating in the winter, if you will be eating out a lot etc, etc but generally your money will go further here. Council tax (IBI) is much cheaper as is car tax and, of course, property.
If you are from the UK and planning to move after the end of the transition period, as it stands you will have to prove an income of €2,400 a month and you will have to have private medical insurance if you have not yet reached state retirement age.
Denia is over an hour's drive from Alicante airport so if you will be going back and forth regularly or having lots of visitors this will be a factor.

Also google "flooding in Denia" to make sure you are aware of this, it's not just Denia but some areas are more prone than others.

I haven't been to Denia but have read many good reports about it.
