Drop off at Valencia Airport

This isn't about flights but rather drop off and pick up by car at Valencia airport. I'm sure some of you have done it.
I have to take someone to Valencia airport for the first time on Sunday and pick them back up four days later. All the websites I've looked at regarding the airport are vague about actually dropping someone off. They suggest I will have to go into short term parking (P1) and pay for the privilege, unlike Alicante, where you can pick up and drop off right outside the terminal and you get up to 15 minutes free.
Does anyone know what the routine is there? Thanks
