My wife has been on strong painkillers for 15 years. She fell off a horse and broke her back. For the past 3 years we have lived permanently in Denia and she has a prescription for 10mg and 20mg Oxycontin which has to be renewed every 3 months. On the past two occasions they have renewed one type but forgot the other (meaning another stressful trip to Pedrera Hospital to correct the prescription). Does anyone have any advice? We took a translator with us to try to avoid this happening again but it just has.

Hello

You dont necessarily get a 'repeat prescription'.

I have 3 items on mine , & they all run out at different times ( the farmacia always advise me) so I only get that one item renewed when I go the salud -- not the whole prescription.

Cheers

Please go to see your doctor at the health centre to sort this out, I can't see why you need to go to the hospital.

As El says sometimes the prescriptions run out at different times, my doctor gives me a printout of the meds, with the expiry dates.

Also the pharmacy gives me a receipt which also gives a list of what I will get next month, which means that if I think something is missing I have a month to see the doctor to get it changed.

All the best, J

Hi, I live in Denia too and am an insulin dependent diabetic with numerous other complications. My doctor is Dr. Henk Landa at San Carlos Hospital, Denia. The prescription he provides me for most of my regular diabetic meds, is valid for a whole year and this is written by my doctor on the prescription. As such, all I do is visit my pharmacy with a photocopy of my prescription at the end of each month to buy all my regular meds and insulin I need for the next month. However for Xanax/aprozalam, he provides me 3 months supply only because of restrictions imposed by the Spanish Ministry of Health. Have not had any problems for the last 7 years we have been in Denia.

Thank you for the valuable information have written down the name of the doctor and clinic because forewarned means prepared and after the first stumbling blocks due to lack of information and misdirection am truly thankful for all the pointers coming my way. Wish each and every one of you a lovely day. Eva
