I am hoping to go from luton to alicante staying in Denia for 1 week mid October but I need to know at present do people have to isolate for 2 weeks when back in the UK. I realise it sometime off but I just want a general idea if this is already happening as I don't want to have to

Take a look at the Government website regularly, their guidance is updated as soon as any change is made. At present it's a bit early to say what will happen in October. Currently any changes are being made with only a day or so till it's takes effect.

At the moment you need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in the UK from Spain ( I've just recently finished mine), but things change so that by October it might be a different situation. Keep checking the government website for travel advice.
