I have a British Passport which expires in August 2022 and I am planning to visit Holland in February 2022 for a few days. I shall be flying direct from and back to Spain. Some sources say you must have at least three months left, and others say six months left on your passport to get back into Spain. UK government web sites only deal with travel from there and back, so can anyone suggest a Spanish website which could clarify my position ?

Many Thanks

Here is a link to a Spanish site. Don't know how old it is, hope it can help you.

Hello

 Passports

Check your passport is valid for travel before you book your trip. You can apply for or renew your British passport from Spain.

You must have at least 6 months left on an adult or child passport to travel to most countries in Europe (not including Ireland). This requirement does not apply if you are in scope of the Withdrawal Agreement.

This from a Gov.Uk website, hope it answers your question

Cheers

Passports are now only valid for 10 years  from the issue date.

Years ago you got additional months added to your passport if you renewed early.

So for travel you must have six months left on your passport.

So ignore any additional months do not count them.

Your travel date needs to be within 9 years and 6 months of the date of issue.
