What are the rules and regulations regarding keeping a car in Spain on English plates and can you insure it with a Spanish Co.

You can only keep it in Spain for a maximum of six months in any twelve months.
If you move to Spain to live here, you must re-register it onto Spanish plates within two months of acquiring a padron or residencia if you want to avoid being charged import tax.

You can insure a British registered car with a Spanish insurance company. Our Spanish insurance provider recognised our UK no-claims discounts on two cars (that will be re-registered in Spain shortly).
