Noooo. Urban myth, I'm afraid. Go ahead and stomp.

Best time to catch them was in May when you see the buggers shagging. Spray them and you got 2 for the price of one AND no babies from their night of nuptials! They produce about 50 sprogs per bonk!

I amuse myself every year as the local gunslinger, armed with cocky spray. Last year I got about 350.

Treat it like a Battle of Britain score - kills and probables.  It's great fun!

Most were in my bloody front garden (they like my umbrella bush) but some were "away matches" (going to/returning from pub) or on neighbours walls. One or two were in the house! My belief is they get in through the oven extractor so, before turning in, I turn on the extractor, spray a bit of cocky killer up it and turn the fan off.

The Mercadona sprays are brill! Black tin or brown, those cockies are history.

Been working overseas a lot this year so my "kills" are well down this year but I intend to make up for it when I'm back!

.....kin' 'ell......the things you do when you're single............................. :)

Best reply yet...pmsl

Actually, we could make a Cocky Championship. Sort of like the Champions League.

Each Urbanisation can notify their kills (or probables) on here every week. Give yourselves names like.............oh I dunno...."Cocky Busters" or "Cock Squashers".

We can make a league table and at the end of the season (around October) the winning urbanisation gets a jam jar full of dead roaches which they can display proudly on their mantelpiece until the next season starts. It'll be the Cocky Trophy.

I predict pretty high scores (no overestimating though - honesty is key here) so we can make footy-type songs to aim at the bloody council who DON'T spray our drains. Like...."Where the F***ing where the f***ing where the f***ing hell are yoooo? Where the f***ing hell are you"?

Bloody 'ell I need a woman.......................

I can honestly say I have never had any of them after I plugged in a pest reject plug in.

A couple of weeks ago in Cyprus, while on a petsit, I had to call the pest control guy out as one bathroom was 'breeding' cockroaches. He reckoned they came up mainly through the drain system - toilet, sinks, shower etc. And indeed, when he lifted the covers off the drains outside, to spray, it was like an Indiana Jones movie... Hundreds and hundreds of cockroaches swarming inside. I couldn't even bear to look, it freaked me out! He said he would need to come back to spray after 4 weeks as the eggs are on a 4-week cycle (or something to that effect). I was super delighted to not see another cockroach after that  spraying session. The owner also reckoned she had never had cockroaches before...

The problem in Orihuela Costa is that the council do not spray the drains regularly - if at all, in some years (like last year in our area). If you go away for a period of time and/or your property will be empty, put the plugs in the plug holes, ensure there is someone to put water down the loo/bidet and put corks in the overflow holes!

Job's a good 'un.

But put your angry face on when you see one and spray them without mercy! :)

Tried in Villamartin. Angry face (& all!) he said....." oh mas ingleses?," & smiled. Villas.
