they live in the fosspit  mayby it is full.

They just live generally in the drains and access voids etc. I lifted an access panel for electrical cables the other day and there was loads in there.

A couple of weeks ago in Cyprus, while on a petsit, I had to call the pest control guy out as one bathroom was 'breeding' cockroaches. He reckoned they came up mainly through the drain system - toilet, sinks, shower etc. And indeed, when he lifted the covers off the drains outside, to spray, it w...

...as like an Indiana Jones movie... Hundreds and hundreds of cockroaches swarming inside. I couldn't even bear to look, it freaked me out! He said he would need to come back to spray after 4 weeks as the eggs are on a 4-week cycle (or something to that effect). I was super delighted to not see another cockroach after that  spraying session. The owner also reckoned she had never had cockroaches before...

They seem to come and go in no particular order. You don't see one for a few days and then they come every day. One tip is to keep your sink plugs plugged in and keep the kitchen and bathroom floors clean and disinfected. While I'm here I found out recently that Mozzies hate the smell of Marmite but love Bananas of which they can smell both through our perspiring skin in this weather. Not seen or heard a MOzzie for weeks due to no rain / puddles to breed in...

And don't stamp on them with your foot as it will only spread their eggs via the sole of your shoe.

I use a spray named Yuki, it's specially made fpr Cockroaches and works instantly. Other than that I keep all plugholes blocked..

Since religiously ensuring that the plugs are in the sinks and baths etc. we've only seen a couple in the last month or so and killed them with Yuki spray. I think they just walk in through the front door or possibly glide down through the ceiling vent in the utility room roof. Not really sure they bite, that's the Mozzies job. Seen none of those for weeks as we've had very little rain in the Torettas...
