Hi

I am in the process of buying a house in El Raso and have been contacted by Banco Sabadell to open an account to pay my direct debits. They seem to charge a lot for maintenance fees!

II have a Starling euro account and wondered if this would be okay to use to pay my direct debits.

Does anyone use a Starling euro account to pay their community fees, electricity, suma etc and if so is it easy and okay.

Not sure which account Sabadell have offered you,700 euros  a month deposited seems to be the nominal amount to avoid charges...in the correct account. Ten years + with them never paid a cent, which branch as offered you the account ?

I too have a Starling Euro account but you could run into difficulties because of the GB prefix to the IBAN number.

As I also had a Wise account I used this for my direct debits, Wise' bank account is based in Belgium so has a BE prefix to the IBAN number, this is widely accepted across Europe.

It is called a sight account from Rojales bank.

I was just wondering because I thought if I could use my Starling  Euro account it would be easier for me as I already have it .

I did have my doubts about the Iban being GB that’s why I have asked if anyone is using it and it works.

Thank you very much for replying to me it is most appreciated as this is a very big learning curve and any help is most welcome

Thanks for getting back to me.

You will also need to have the facility of drawing a bankers draft to pay for your property, unless you are transferring the money to your solicitor.

Most internet banks do not offer bankers drafts.

That’s not a problem as I am paying through my lawyers but thank you very much for getting back to me.

It is a steep learning curve and sometimes I fall back down the curve.
