Tiled indoor floor in need if TLC

Hi
My floor tiles throughout the house have sadly been neglected for many years, prior to us moving in. I'm hoping to improve their appearance ie. New grout and painting in the chips of the tiles. My question is, is there a floor/tile sealer available? I don't want to do all this and then they look horrible again in a few months. Hubby won't entertain getting new floor or getting a professional in. More important things need doing. I really just want a reasonable looking floor.
