Hi all !! We have just been hit with a bi-monthly electric bill from Endesa of 360€. Now we understand electricity has gone up but I am interested to hear whether this sounds over the top for a 3 bed house (with underbuild ) it is just myself and husband however we have had guests on and off over the past 2 months we have had the heating on a few times (aircon set to heat )and used the tumble dryer a few times ...other than that standard appliances . I ask because have lived in the Canaries for 23 yrs in similar sized house and usage but this last bill came as a huge shock - is this due to recent increases maybe ? Really love to know what sort of experiences you are all having with your utilities. Thanks so much in advance

Lots of threads on the subject.
Are you on the government tari, if so you really need to be monitoring the hourly charges.
Prices have come down again now, but back in March charges were as high as 0.95€ per kWh. Even the low price on that day was 0.56.
Compare that with today 27 April, the lowest hour 3-4 am is 0.25 per kWh and the highest is at 8-9pm at 0.38.

Not excessive IMO, my last monthly bill was 176€ for a house similar to yours.
Bills have made a huge jump recently not only here in Spain but in the UK and other EU countries.
Many will be seeing similar bills but how long is a piece of string?
To get a grip on your bills means analysing exactly where your electricity is going as it's only then that you will be able to take steps to manage and control it.

I find that the most expensive item is heating the water. I now have the heater on timer (cheap rate) and only fully heat the water when one of us wants a shower.

Consider also the tarif you are on. We are on night and day where you have 14 cheap hours and 10 high hrs so use the higher rated appliances in the low hrs, especially the tumble dryer, washer, dishwasher and cooking. I try to cook evening meals in the morning upto 1pm winter, or 12 noon in summer. Then reheat later. My hubby loves his twice cooked chips. We don't have aircon as much inland in a windy area so no need but bills are approx €60 month. You could also consider the choose any 8hrs where you choose the best 8hrs to have cheap rates and if you have the Iberdrola (sorry you didn't mention the supplier) Distribution app, you can change your tarif throughout the year to make the best choice of low cost hrs to suit your lifestyle. Hope this may give you more info to consider.
